The long awaited Wonder Woman entry into the DC universe has dropped and everyone is in high anticipation to whether it'll be a success or not. With Justice League nearly upon us, it was time to be introduced to Gal Gadot as the main feature rather than just the flashes and saving grace, in my opinion, of Batman Vs Superman. Between the music in that film being carried into this one, even the trailer gave me tingles. I was really looking forward going into this as I love a good gritty DC but this seemed to be a bit lighter. With a cast including Chris Pine as the main guy, side kick if you will, and some interesting fight scenes within the many trailers, it was time to settle down with my popcorn.

First of all we are treated to a nowaday scene as Diana, Wonder Woman's actual name, is in Paris and the Louvre, outside a Wayne Enterpise van pulls up and some guys take a briefcase in to her. Opening it she sees a picture of herself with 4 guys and the picture seems really old, black and white and the fashion sense seems of the early First World War. Along with the picture is a note from Bruce, stating that he would like to hear the story about her sometime. A simple dissolve on Diana's face leads us into history and a young Diana, at 8 years old, running through the streets with everyone calling her name and a massive smile on her face. Soon we know that she is evading her tutor in order to run off and watch the warriors train. She lives on a island filled with Amazons, an all female warrior clan and her mother is the Queen, Queen Hippolyta, who forbids her from any sort of training because she fears she is too young. She takes her daughter and tells her the story of the Gods and how Zeus ruled but looked at mankind favourably. His son Ares was the God of War and looked to corrupt man which in turn lead them to tear each other apart. The other Gods sought to fight Ares and were killed but with his dying moments, Zeus created a weapon for man to use to destroy Ares once and for all. He gave the Amazons their home and hid it away from the rest of the world. Once Diana learns of this weapon, naturally she asks to see it and a powerful sword known as the God Killer sits in a stand. The Queen hopes that there will never be a time that Diana will need to use it, along with anyone else.  
The General and also Diana's auntie Antiope convinces the Queen to let Diana train in order for her to be ready in case there is an event. The Queen's main problem is that she believes the more that Diana trains, the sooner Ares will find her. Through the years, Diana is treated to some pretty harsh training shown to us in the usual montage, different ages and different techniques, until adulthood where Diana is training to be as fierce as the other Amazons. One session we see some sword play where Diana believes she has won, only for Antiope to take advantage while her eyes are elsewhere, Diana ends up defending herself with her gauntlets which causes the General to fly away and hurt herself in the landing. Finally we see a bit of power that she actually possesses. Although Diana shows plenty of remorse and leaves ashamed, the General is far from disappointed and you can see some pride in her face. By now Diana has run over to a cliff in a scene that looks straight out of Moana and looks to the horizon wondering what else is out there until a plane comes through the barrier and crashes into the ocean. Diana swims to save the pilot who is played by Chris Pine. Taking him to the shore, she discovers that he is a man, something she has never seen before but more important matters come to frame when he's being followed by Germans. As they are ready to come ashore, the Amazons are on the Cliffside ready to attack with arrows. Bullets flying, bodies dropping from both sides, the Germans are taken out easily even though they have superior weapons, showcasing the strength of these women. Some slow motion fighting and special effects show a great first but short fight scene and promises more to come. One gun is aimed at Diana until Antiope jumps in the way of the bullet and with her last breath tells Diana that it is her time to wield the sword. It doesn't look good for Steve, Pine's character, after this death.
 Steve is questioned by using the Lasso of Truth and confesses that he is a spy and has stolen a book from the Germans that is a formula for a secret gas that they plan on using in the War to end all Wars. Diana guesses that they must work for Ares and wants to stop this before it gets worse. Steve is allowed to have a wash until Diana walks in and see him nude and with some sexual innuendos she discovers what a watch is, but is still confused by something so small controlling someone's life. After being denied leave, Steve still seeks to escape but in the mean time Diana is thinking the same. She decides to test her jumping power over a cavern to where the sword is stored. Landing her jump by gripping onto a ledge, it gives way but she catches herself by punching through the wall showing some immense strength. She takes the God Killer, Lasso, shield and as she walks out, something catches her eye. We only see a glimpse of it in the corner of the screen but its enough to see that it's her famous armour. Making a deal to help Steve if he takes her to Ares they set to leave and reach a boat until the Queen and a few Amazons come to confront her. Diana knows that she is leaving either way and gives this impression so after a tearful embrace and a farewell, the Queen watches her daughter leave, stating that she couldn't tell Diana who she really is or Ares will find her faster.
Diana and Steve chat along their boat journey and Diana explains that she was made out of clay and brought alive, being the only child on the Island, she always knew that it wouldn't always be her home. Arriving in London, she sees the ugly side of the world compared to here paradise home. She's taken to find some new clothes as she is way to revealing, meeting Steve's assistant to help her pick out the clothes and this new character quickly becomes the blunt British humour deliverer. Once leaving the shop, the characters are followed by some Germans who are after the diary. Using her gauntlets to stop the bullets, she kicks arse and leaves the men in her wake. They walk into a war room meeting and the other men are speechless by the sight of Diana. Presenting the notebook that he took to Sir Patrick, it's hard to translate until Diana steps in and helps. Discovering that the Generals are sending in their troops to mainly be killed because that's their use, Diana is disgusted and makes her feelings know. Steve wants to stop the new factory creating the bioweapon but is rebuffed, once they leave the meeting he tells Diana that they are going anyway and he lied to his superiors. Along this time we flit back and fore to the Germans creating the new gas with the main General Lundendorff and Maru, the female known as Dr Poison, but mostly failing to make it as disastrous as they would like. 
Steve takes Diana to meet his team, only for Sir Patrick to walk in but he's agreed to let them work through his office and that they aren't to tell anyone. With the gang making it to the front, they walk through the trenches and Diana talks to a lady asking for help. She's already seen more stress in a day that she has seen since she has been born. Wanting to help this lady, to get back what was taken from them by the German army, she's dons her Tiara and we are set for a great scene. She steps out onto the battlefield to the astonishment of the team and soldiers, facing the bullets head on. In slow motion she walks across no mans land with the Germans opening fire. Deflecting bullets in the way she knows how, brushing grenades aside with her shield, she jumps into the trenches and beats down the enemy as the team advance alongside her. Super strength sees her topple a tank, jump high into a church tower and end the scene with the villagers applause. That's exactly how I felt, with all the fighting, using all of her equipment, flitting between slow motion and fast paced, this sequence had me on the edge of my seat and I loved it. Bring on the rest!
Steve has found out that Ludendorff is hosting a gala at a castle the next day so the plan is to head over and infiltrate, beyond Sir Patrick's wishes. After explaining what a gala is to Diana, they slow dance to prepare her and then head upstairs, sharing a kiss until the scene fades to black. This is the usual love scene that enters a superhero film I guess. Heading over to the gala in disguise, Steve makes it into the main event, leaving Diana behind because he isn't convinced she won't kill Ludendorff before he finds out what their main plan with the bioweapon is. She instead steals a woman's dress and moves in for the kill before Steve stops her. By now the Germans launch the gas into the town that they had recently saved, much to Diana's distress. Running ahead to save them, she is too late and only arrives to dead bodies. Instantly blaming Steve for not allowing her to kill the General, he sees smoke signals in the distance and that's the rest of the group, Chief is sending a message that he has found Ludendorff. Diana makes it to an air strip filled with Germans and the General is at the top of a look out tower. I think this is coming to a climax now. Beating down the surrounding men, she makes her way up to face 'Ares' as he inhales a tablet that is created for him by Maru to give him extra strength. Putting up a good fight and making it to the roof, he's soon beaten as Diana drives the God Killer through his chest. Surely this isn't the death of a God? As she looks around, the Germans are still going ahead with loading a plane with bombs of gas.
Steve has shown back up after worrying about Diana going ahead by herself. In talking with him, she is confused as to why mankind is still being evil although Ares has been killed. In a great speech about what she doesn't understand about people is that maybe it's not because of a God and people are actually bad. Realising that her mother was right in that mankind don't deserve her help or the help of the Amazons. Feeling defeated, she is ready to leave, Steve on the other hand is to fight on with the gang to stop the plane. Diana looks back inside the tower office to see Sir Patrick, how the hell?! Coming to light that he is actually Ares, he tells Diana that he was behind the ideas for the Germans. She tried to kill him with the sword only for it to shatter and he goes on to reveal to her that she is the actual weapon created by Zeus to stop him. Using the Lasso this time, he creates visions for her showing what the world can be like once mankind has ended, he wants her to join him. Obviously refusing, the main fight is ready to blow me away.
Steve and his team have made it to the German front line in the warehouse and are ready to put up the fight to stop their main mission of bombing London. Going through different ideas, they cannot blow up the plane because it will kill everyone within 50 miles of the strip. As the main fight continues, Ares showing his true power and beating Diana without breaking a sweat, Steve runs over to Diana as she picks herself up from the floor but she cannot hear what he is saying due to the explosions muffling her ears. We are through the point of view of Diana right now and just see miming until he hands her his watch from earlier. It becomes clear to the audience that he's going to take the plane and sacrifice himself for the greater good. Once he is at a safe distance, Diana is trapped on the ground watching her world fall apart. The rest of the gang are cornered, she is trapped by metal crushing her to the tarmac and Steve is flying further away. By now he's ready to shoot the bombs and she screams as the explosion lights up the sky. Breaking free is desperation, and lifting a tank aloft, Ares brings Maru forward and reveals her face as disfigured. Wanting Diana to kill her for creating the gas, she finally recalls what Steve had said. She can save the world. That he loves her. Diana drops the tank and shouts about how Ares is wrong regarding mankind. With him trying to electrocute her, she absorbs the blast in a shot that shows she is at full throttle. He sends metal her way that simple breaks in front of her as she sends the electric blast back his way tenfold, destroying him for good and freeing the soldiers from his corruption.
The film ends as everyone in London is celebrating the end of the war, we see people kissing just like the famous picture from Times Square and we find the team looking at a wall of fallen heroes. Looking at a picture of Steve, the team is all in the same shot from different distances, looking at their leader. Back to the present to totally end this, Diana sends an email to Bruce Wayne thanking him for bringing back the memories of Steve. Her voice over begins and assures everyone that she will always be around to find JUSTICE. Diana leaps across the Paris skyline to continue her hard work as Wonder Woman.
Wow, this is where the DC universe should be at. Simple and effective and it's carrying the universe at the moment. To me there were major likenesses of seeing Captain America: The First Avenger. With the period it was set, the growth of a character and their powers, leading a team that wasn't truly theirs and being a ray of hope for civilians. The main difference between the two is that I can watch this over and over again. The cinematic experience felt so fresh and the slow motion fight scenes along with the musical score impressed to the end. You connected with every character, from the development of the team's members and even Maru to an extent. There was something for everyone and its great to see a female role model on the big screen in the shape of a superhero, and one that will be a big success. With the rise of feminism in society and roles in movies changing over the years to be more female led, this was a true winner. Some have not worked, for example, Ghostbusters, but I have spoken to many men and they didn't have bad thing to say about this movie. It's not new to see women fight in movies as Ripley in Alien led the way. The film created someone for little girls to look up to with such a compassionate character, one that didn't need to fight against men, but with them. The sexiness of Wonder Woman has been apparent in all the other formats and this was kept going with the outfit still capturing the male's gaze. She may have been mostly naked the whole time but this wasn't for objectification but instead to show that she has legs, legs that she can kick arse with rather than cocktail sticks. Later when there are advances to her regarding her looks, she gently pushes the male away and instead wins plaudits from the males by winning a bar fight. Even beyond Gadot herself, one of the main villains is a female which could be the most feminist act in the movie itself throwing out the connotation that men would only be evil throughout this story. The casting worked very well and to learn that Gal Gadot was pregnant during shooting is impressive and fills me with respect for her. This is a ray of light for what's to come and I think this was helped by a female director. I was kept wanting more, emotionally involved and the only thing it didn't have was an after credits to link it to something else. If I had to say anything bad about it, I'd be clutching at straws. Bravo to all involved, this was truly brilliant. Diana has grown up in a world where no one has ever told her she cannot do something because she is a woman, so she only does what she thinks is right. By all means I hope this continues.

The Sequel to Prometheus and prequel to the older Alien films, this had a lot of promise and fans waiting for a long time to come around. The return of the Xenomorph was always going to be highly anticipated amongst Alien, Sci-fi and horror fans alike. After watching life, it got me a bit more excited to watch, after what was a bit of a wet revival of the franchise in the effort of its prequel. This time there promised to be a lot more of the alien killer that has become a phenomenal presence in the heart of the cinematic world. This film saw the return of Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston fresh off the back of some Fantastic Beasts success, Danny McBride who I wasn't expecting and A couple of others from the Prometheus.
The movie begins with a big flash back to the beginning of it all and Peter Weyland, played by Guy Pearce, speaks to his newly created synthetic, who has chosen the name David for himself after looking at the famous statue. Peter tells him that one day they will find the creator of man together, but as we know from the prequel, it never happened as Weyland died and David was left stranded. Fast forward to 2104 and the new ship, Covenant is flying through space to find a remote planet carrying 2000 colonists and 1000 embryos. The ship is being monitored by Walter, a new synthetic which physically resembles David down to the ground, obviously with Fassbender playing him. Suddenly the ship starts to kick off as a neutrino burst is detected near and the new star igniting cause the ship to be damaged. The shockwave kills some of the sleeping colonists and Walter orders the ship to wake up the crew for help but the captain dies when his pod won't open and he's burnt alive. This is the husband of Daniels, played by Waterston and more surprisingly, he's played by James Franco. It's weird to think he'd agree to being in the film for such a short cameo. While they are repairing the ship, they pick up a radio transmission and against the wishes of the recently made widow, the new captain decides to investigate. Great, nothing ever goes wrong when they change the plan.
As they keep the main ship in orbit with some of the crew, a larger group leave to explore and find the transmission which leads them to a crashed alien ship. Two of the crew are accidentally infected after inhaling alien spores, rapidly sickening, a duo try to get back to the small ship and the med bay in order for help. Maggie, wife of the man pilot Tennessee locks the two in the med bay until they know what the hell is going on but things take a quick turn for the worst as a small alien bursts out of his back, killing him and the mauls the other woman to death. Maggie for some reason opens the door to kill it but the bugger is so quick she has no chance. Spraying bullets she accidentally hits a gas tank and the explosion kills her and blows up the lander. The Neomorph escapes and runs just as the second infected gets back with the gang and they all see the action. An alien bursts from his throat and now the two aliens attack from all areas, trying to pick them off one by one. Walter sacrifices his hand in order to kill one and then a bright light appears as David, who has survived, comes to the rescue. He leads them to a city which is full of humanoid corpses, burnt into position of the main square.
Now hidden away, David explains what happened and that when they tried to take off and crashed back to the planet, himself and the Doctor released a bioweapon that killed all of the natives and that Shaw died in the collision. After they tell him what they were doing on the planet, they attempt to make contact with the ship, telling Tennessee what has happened to his wife. In the mean time, one of the females in the crew is countered alone by a Neomorph and decapitated. David walks in to communicate with it until the captain shoots it dead to his horror. David tells him that they are a result of experimenting with the liquid bioweapon to create a new species. He takes the captain, Oram, down to an incubation chamber and tricks him into embracing the famous facehugger, which does its usual trick and an alien soon bursts out of his chest. This was a s light plot hole as in the sequels, it took a while for the alien to come out. As the rest of the crew search for the two deceased, Walter confronts David as he works out that the bioweapon was released on purpose to kill the population. David is of the idea that humans are an inferior species and should not be allowed to live in the galaxy. David, simply pulls a wire from Walters neck, shutting him down and goes on to capture Daniels. Explaining that he actually killed Shaw and used her for experiments of his own. Walter reactivates himself and fights David so that Daniels can run while another member is attacked by another facehugger, being saved by this team mate, they both are attacked by the Xenomorph until the rescuer is killed and the facehugged victim escapes. Surely he's been planted. Tennessee lands in another lander to extract the remaining crew but the alien lands on the small ship which Daniels decides to take on. Finally getting the better of it after a greatly terrifying scene of it trying to smash through the window with his head, she grabs it with a crane and crushes it to death.
Back on the ship, with remaining crew and Walter take a breather but obviously that bloke was planted. It quickly matures and picks them off one by one. The three remaining, Walter, Tennessee and Daniels trap the alien in an air lock and send it shooting out into space. With the course set to the planet they were originally set out for, the crew go back to their pods, and the colonists non the wiser. As Daniels settles to sleep she realises what was an inkling for all watchers, Walter is actually David! But it's too late and she falls asleep. David is now in control and spits out two alien embryos to store with the humans. Using Walter's name to record a log, he lies and states that the crew mostly died from the blasts at the beginning of the movie and the eerily walks down the corridors until the film ends.
With not as much jump scares as I thought we'd get, this film wasn't as intense as I first came to expect. Between the plot holes of how long the aliens took to burst out of the crew but the twists between who the characters were and the actual intent of David, it was a much more enjoyable watch that the slow prequel. The main focus on the crew seemed to be relationships as each one slowly started to loose their partner, whether is was a spouse, best friend or boyfriend/girlfriend, it showed how each one dealt with is all. There was some great action as they tried to fight each alien before killing it and the special effects were just that. The alien itself had a lot more textured look about it with the freedom of CGI and how much it was come on from the props of old. I'm glad they didn't change the look too much and that goes for the facehugger too. I'm looking forward to where we go from here and Ridley Scott may have a chance of fully reviving this franchise by the way it is going.
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

It's truth time! (Mindhorn 2017)

This was a screen unseen for me, which if you don't know, you can book to see a film in an Odeon cinema and you don't know what it is except for three clues leading up to the movie time and then its revealed when it starts rolling. After having a sneak at what people were guessing, I settled on Mindhorn, a British comedy that I can only imagine would interest the UK, with not many others actually getting our humour. Not knowing what to expect, I was ready for the show.

Richard Thorncroft, played by Julian Barratt, is a 1980's TV detective called Mindhorn, working on the Isle of Man, this charismatic man had a robotic eye that can see the truth. With help of a stuntman, love interest and side kick in the show, it's reasonably popular until he goes onto a chat show, wants to leave for the US and insults his fellow cast and the Isle itself.

Fast forward 25 years and Richard is washed up, balding, over weight and living in a tiny flat in London. His career is now advertising embarrassing products on TV rather than staring in shows whilst his agent is trying to find him work. The humour is very dry and he thinks a lot of himself when we sneaks into auditions that he hasn't been invited too, or meetings within his agents office. He's not jealous of that fact that his old side character from Mindhorn now has a spin off show which is a lot more successful than his own show ever was, and now the guy, played by Steve Coogan, is a multi millionaire. Back on the Isle, a murder case happens and a guy who is the lead suspect will only talk to Mindhorn, believing that he is real after growing up watching the show as a child. In order to take any offer on the table to become famous again, Richard is willing to help out and off he goes. Loving the publicity, he puts his eye patch back on, squeezes into his old outfit and quickly slips back into his old character which pisses the police constable right off and everyone else doesn't know how to react. Whilst at the station, the main suspect Melly calls and they set up a meeting where he gets arrested. With success and the hope of further paths, he wants to get the old gang back together and searches for his on screen love interest and ex girlfriend who now works for a news network. This fails as he find outs the hard way that she is now living with his former stunt man and she has a daughter but it's not known to them who the father is. Reading between the lines and with his egotistic mentality, he thinks that she is his. Leaving to move onto Coogan's house, who is having a party, he has the plan to asking him to finance a DVD collection of the old series. Richard is suckered into thinking its going to happen until he's soon the laughing stock, all from revenge for the words he said years ago. He leaves, getting drunk for the night, he is sent home on a boat after the job being done and not welcome on the island anymore. Ready to leave, he gets some old fan mail and one contains a video tape. He heads to his old producer who now lives in a caravan in hell of a state t watch and it shows that its actually the Mayor who committed the murder.

The producer wants to use the tape as blackmail for all the money he has lost over the years through Mindhorn shutting down. Richard though want to simply hand it into the police and after a small altercation they seem to agree. When he heads to hand the tape in, he realises that Melly is on top o the aquaduct with a gun in a standoff with the police and the news crew arrive so Richard has the idea to show the tape. Once play is pressed its been switched by the producer and instead it shows his drunken night, dancing with a blow up doll and doing drugs. Humiliated and stuck with Melly after trying to talk him down, he needs to escape so they both run back to Melly's hideout. Meanwhile the producer meets the Mayor to blackmail him but instead is shot and killed by the female Detective who turns out is in on the cover up. The hideout is filled with Mindhorn things and Richard wakes up after being glued into his suit so that he can always been in character. Melly reveals he has a copy of the tape in the Mindhorn car because the show and comics always told him to make a copy just in case! When the get out of the hideout, the female detective is waiting there to kill them and get the tape but instead Melly through old merchandise in her eyes to blind her to escape. Back at Patricia, the old flame's house, Richard finds out that his stunt double has been hiding letter from her when she thinks that he didn't write to her at all. The old car isn't in the garage now but being used in the parade so the are on the chase for the tape. They hijack the car after a fight scene which the audience think I staged and head to the beach to find that the copy of the tape is actually made out of clay. Melly is shot by the female copper and passes out, but not before Mindhorn promises to close the case. In a slow motion scene of dodging bullets with the evil policewoman left confused, he dances around the screen to slow music until she runs out of bullets and then slaps the gun out of her hand. She has already shot Patricia who eats a blood capsule to fake her death. He records a confession off her with the recorder that Melly insisted he wore on his belt, he's ready to hand her in until he is shot by her last bullet and finds out they weren't blanks as her thought and they were all real bullets so he faints. She is arrested along with the Mayor and everyone survives to tell the tale, including Melly.

With all of the old 80's political incorrectness and dry humour, cheesy one liners and chat up lines, it was quite enjoyable as far as British comedies go. The acting was actually really good for the role that Barratt was meant to play and the mans ability to have a soulful character worked. There wouldn't have been a massive budget for this film so everything that was used is brilliant. It's not really a movie that will stand the test of time for me but for a one off, I enjoyed it. It wasn't a great ending, always looking for that last laugh but not finishing off with all of the emotional side.

Time for a simple animation that didn't exactly jump out at me but I was willing to go and see after enjoyment I got out of watching Storks and Moana. The trailer was pretty simple and probably showed most of the humour that was expected from the movie anyways. Alec Baldwin was playing a baby in a suit with a plan and it was time to find out what was going down. One major thing that wound me up about the viewing though was that there were two flies constantly landing on projector cover, which got multiplied by 10 and danced across the big screen.

We begin with some narration from Tobey Maguire, who plays the grown up version on the first character we see. Tim Templeton is a young lad with a very active imagination, with loving parents who give him all the time he needs whilst they work at the puppy company. They ask him how he would feel about a little brother, to which he is not best pleased, unawares that his mother is already up the duff. Zoom out to the clouds and over to Baby Corp we see babies after babies being born, not quite sure how, but they go through the motions, first a diaper with some talc, a dummy and some cheeky milk. Going along a conveyor belt, they get tickled and if they laugh they get sent to families and if not, they get an office job. They get given a suit, watch and briefcase along with their new cubicle to work in.

Tim is standing by the window waiting for his parents to arrive home with their new baby and up they pull in a taxi. It's the same baby as we've already seen, Alec Baldwin has now arrived. He strolls up to the front door in his suit and instantly commands the house but with the parents too busy looking to please the new arrival, Tim is instantly shut out. The boy knows there is something out of the ordinary here and wants to find out what it is. He sneaks into the baby's room at night and hears him speaking on his toy phone with the voice of an adult. He seems to be making plans with someone until Tim stubbles in and stops him, forcing him to admit he can talk. Although he thinks that he has something on the baby, its actually the other way around and he pulls out a file on Tim, making fun of his middle name and telling him that if he doesn't shape up, he can get fired. Tim is going to set out to prove that the baby is actually up to no good so he dons his gear and tried to spies on his playdate with other baby associates. Boss Baby gives a presentation about their main enemies, the PuppyCo. The CEO Francis Francis is about to unveil the newest puppy which is sure to replace babies everywhere. When he questions what they have all learnt we have a few giggles, that the notes being taken were actually squiggles and the rest are just anxious at not remembering anything. Once the parents walk in they all put on a baby act so they are none the wiser.

Tim has recorded the conversation but is caught by the babies. This leads to a chase scene in the backyard with some funny moments of them all in child vehicles with a classic car chase but when we see it through the parents eyes its a bog standard pedal car slowly moving and back to the children's eyes we see explosions and stunts. Very clever. Tim runs to the office and Boss Baby is already in the chair like a Bond villain spinning around. He's holding Tim's favourite toy, Lamb-Lamb. Fighting for it, they accidentally rip off his head. Tim goes mental and threatens to throw the baby out of the window until his parents walk in and catch him. The sling sends the tape instead into the road and it gets run over. Back to the drawing board then, but Tim is now grounded.

Boss Baby walks into Tim's room to catch him in tears and he rides the train to his bed side in a suave manner and now he's ready to discuss why he's here. In order to understand the boy must suck a dummy to find the answers he's looking for. The two are then teleported to the BabyCorp as sort of projections, watching how everything works. The place is in the clouds and very bright so by now those flies from earlier are in full display, break dancing across the screen. The Baby explains how it all works and that there were bosses before him, the new one, a female baby rules with an iron fist. He wants to be the most famous, have his own office an personal potty, going on to explain that they drink a special formula to stop the aging. When we see Boss Baby getting demanded that he has results, they both snap back into their bodies and Boss Baby explains that he has to close down PuppyCo or he will have to stay with the family forever. Tim knows he must help him, but only so that he leaves.

The forced brothers stage the fact that they love each other in front of their parents in a few funny scenes or feeding and wearing the same outfits and soon the pop over to their parents work for a bring you child to work day. This is the way they can find out information about the new puppy. When they arrive the parents tell Tim they can leave the baby in the ball pit and spend sometime together but after some thought he decides to stay with Boss Baby. The Baby dresses as a puppy to pass security in a great moment that had me laughing and they enter a room and find the file they need. In a scene that reminded me of Indiana Jones, they must find something to replace the file which ways the same but after this, its simply a trap anyway. They are caught by Eugene, a gigantic man who is dressed as the PuppyCo mascot. He brings them to meet Francis who reveals himself as one of Boss Baby's hero's Super Colossal Big Fat Boss Baby, now all grown. He explains that he was on top, promotion gained, but because he's lactose intolerant, the formula wasn't keeping him young. Now he's after revenge for them booting him out and he's created a puppy that will stay a puppy forever. All he needs is the formula which he takes from Tim's back pack and the brothers are sent on their way.

The parents are picked by Francis to unveil the puppy and the lads are left with Eugene, dressed as a maid, so that they don't stop the process. Without the formula to drink, Boss Baby starts acting like a real baby, in and out of having starry eyes and dribbling. They come up with a plan of pretending to be ill and vomiting over their kidnapper. They ride Tim's bike whilst Eugene follows on a wagon down the streets. The other babies from earlier are called in to help with the chase and succeed in getting the lads to the airport. They watch the plane take off as they are too late and they both blame each other, Boss Baby blaming Tim for not being able to ride his bike faster and Tim blaming the Baby for being a baby at the worst times. Then the usual hurtful thing is said as Tim tells him that Baby knows nothing about a real family.

Hours later, still in the airport, Baby calls Tim the a phone that's next to him and they sort it out and head to Vegas by pretending to be the Pilot's kids. Eugene follows them on the plane so we can imagine there will be one more chase scene. Once on the flight Tim tells Baby to pretend they are pirates and are taking over a ship, for the first time Baby has fun in his life. The boys make it in time for the convention and the unveiling of the puppy. When the boys show themselves to Francis, he locks the parents in a massive heart and wheels them away. As they follow, so does Eugene, as they discover that Francis will be launching the puppies with a rocket. Eugene comes running but is soon disposed of as he falls into a pit of cats, which is a giant litter box. Catching up with Francis, who has a pop of chucking them off a ledge, they have a go at being pirates again and Francis is foiled as he falls into a massive keg of formula. The head to save the parents and stop the puppy launch. Baby turns into a real one again and is stuck on the rocket until we see a moment when Tim sings to him to save him and have him jump towards him. This was originally Tim's song from his parents but earlier we see them sing it to Boss Baby as Tim is jealous, so this has been a massive turn around for him.

Walking over to the formula to sort out Boss Baby, Fat Baby flops out, back younger, he plans revenge until Eugene sticks a dummy in his mouth and says he will raise him the right way this time. Massive flaw! The reason he couldn't stay young was because of the lactose intolerance, so how did this make him younger again? The boys return home and Boss Baby can leave for him promotion with a house full of babies removing all memories that they ever had a second child in the family. Tim chooses not to forget him and flicking back between them both we see them miss each other and they aren't happy even though they got what they wanted. We all know what is coming next as Tim write him a letter and sends him toys, making him quit his job and send himself down the family chute. Sometime later he turns up at the house and both remember each other and set off to have adventures. As we jump to the future, it's back to Toby's voice, who is telling the story to his own daughter as they are about to welcome a new baby. With them is Boss Baby, all grown up and now called Ted. The daughter looks into the delivery room and her new sister raises up and of course, she is wearing a suit.

This was a decent comedy and animation with a good story line. Clever emotional parts were shown but we all knew how it was going to end anyway, that's just the way. Apart from the dancing flies spoiling it a little, it was altogether good and even though the casting was pretty interesting, it really worked. There was one flaw with the story but I doubt many people would have noticed that anyway. With some mild crude humour, this is a watch for any age.

                     Why wouldn't a film that David Beckham had acting lessons for not work out? We are about to find out. I didn't go into this with any high hopes of a blockbuster after hearing reviews from friends and family. The trailer looked like another 'Great Wall' with decent effects but the ability to be just that. With the hot property right now of Charlie Hunnam as Arthur, Jude Law as the main villain and a group of Miss fits know throughout British films, Guy Ritchie was hoping this medieval fantasy tale was going to smash it. I enjoy mythology and medieval times so that could be one to draw me in. 

We start will a story from long ago in the Dark Ages and a Mage called Modred attack all castles in order to take over with his dark magic. Riding to Camelot on the back of war elephants, bigger than those in the Lord of the Rings finale, he comes face to face with Eric Bana who plays King Uther. With his own army, he makes his way to Modred and one swing of Exaclibur, which gives him extra power shown through some blue twinkles in his eyes, chops off the head of the evil Mage and brings his reign to terror to and end. Soon after Uther's brother, whose name is too long to worry over so we'll just call him Jude Law, leads a gang against the King because he isn't happy that all of the mages aren't being hunted down to stop another rose in the future. He takes his own wife deep down to a dungeon type pit and kills her, in order to get a stronger form from spilling her blood. Uther manages to get his wife and son Arthur out of the castle as Jude's minions are closing in on them. As the Blacklegs, Law's minions start smashing the place up, the family is led to the docks just as a mysterious dark figure appears and hurls a spear at the wife and kills her. Arthur is put onto a small body and asked to escape whilst his father tackles this tall figure.

Arthur is discovered by a trio of ladies and taken to a brothel to be raised, a few cut scenes happen along with some strange music that can only be described as a pervert heavy breathing down a phone mixed with someone slamming two wooden spoons onto a saucepan. The scenes are showing Arthur growing up, picking fights and earning money in anyway possible, saving it in a hidden box. As an adult, now being played by Hunnam, he's grown stronger and cocky, making friends with Rubio and Percival. He's become a sort of bouncer for the brothel and looks after the women who looked after him when he was younger. He tends to his friend Lucy who had been manhandled by a group of Vikings. He heads off to the docks to handle the business and get money off them as an apology, chopping the leaders beard off as a token of revenge. Getting back to the brothel, the blacklegs are raiding looking for a man who shouldn't be there. Arthur gives him up without wanting trouble for his 'family' but talk soon turns to the Vikings and that they were protected by the king. He's sent to the Kingdom to pay for his crime but not before trying to escape and Lucy is killed in front of him and the other girls after him trying to save them from being mixed up in his own troubles. 

We head back to see Vortigern, Jude Law, and he's speaking to the sirens that are living in that pit who granted his powers. They are depicted as three squid like creatures, one hideous and the other two are decent lookers apart from the many arms. They explain that once he manages to kill Arthur, and takes the power that the sword gives, he will then succeed. He now learns that the sword has been found in a stone under the ocean. Arthur, along with many people his age are being marched towards the stone to have a go at pulling it out of the stone. Pushing his way to the front, he wants to get this out of the way and carry on with his life. Step up Dai Becks. My god, he's meant to play a blackleg so there has to be some sort of presence on the screen if your having lines. In his worst accent going, shouting at Arthur at how to pull a sword out and then switching to him in slow motion ordering the troops to capture him was easily the worst and most cringe worthy moment of the film. So yea, Arthur has stepped forward and slowly felt the sword move out of the stone, seeing flashes and too much power to control he passes out and wakes up in a dungeon with Jude Law staring at him holding his crown. A quick exchange means that Arthur is filled in with who he is, who is father was, that he can control the sword and that Law has every intention of holding it all for himself so Arthur must be dealt with. 

Meanwhile Uther's former General and one of the only decent actors in this movie is met by a female Mage, although he isn't too happy to see her. She was sent by Merlin to help Arthur escape and she's going to need, Sir Bedevere's help. Arthur is obviously sentenced to execution and if he refuses to act like a coward instead of the hero that all the people have come out to see, Law will kill the rest of his lady friends. Once his head is on the chopping board, the Mage controls some Eagles to attack the guards and dogs to chase others whilst men appear and help Arthur with his escape. They take him to a hideout in the forest where they have been hiding out and plotting to defeat Vortigern. There, he meets Bill, the guy who he gave up in the brothel earlier. Played by the same guy who plays Petyr Baelish, it's hard not to see him as anything else. Arthur refuses to help them as the others put doubt in his mind that he is who he actually is but he knows this is just to try and wind him up. He sucker punches Bill and tries to swing the sword but he passes out again. Once he wakes, Bedevere explains how Modred and Arthur's uncle were working together all along to insure each other victory. Vortigern's new goal is too build the tallest Mage tower which had once been the source of the evil Mage's power and if he completes it, he would be unstoppable. Once the evil Mage got to power, the Lady of the Lake gave Excalibur to Uther in order to kill him.
As Arthur is not ready, the Mage decides its a good idea to take him to the Blacklands, where Merlin had destroyed Mordred's tower. Where the hell s Merlin? Surely he's coming soon. Being here, he can learn to control the sword. A few sped up scenes show him tackling all kinds of creatures and growing wary as he makes his way up the mountain. As he tried to grasp the power, he is thrown into the dreams he's been having about his mother's death and now he sees it was his uncle as the dark figure throwing the spear. His father tried to fight but is over powered and instead throws his sword into the air and lets it impale him. This turned him into stone, the stone he was pulling the sword out from and once Arthur realises this sacrifice, he's ready. 
They all plan to meet barons from other Kingdoms in order to rally men which Arthur helps because he feels he knows exactly what will go down. In a series of clever cuts we are back and fore between the actual meeting and what Arthur saying what will happen and watching it felt like a meeting in a Cockney market, arguing about the price of fruit. Altogether it involves some of his own men and confrontations to show the Barons that Arthur is someone trustworthy. It comes to evidence of how they are getting certain information as Vortigern's maid is actually a spy as she brings information about the Vikings helping the evil side so when this meeting takes place, so will the attack. But something isn't right. Vortigern knows and sends out a decoy. The group in the tower ready to attack know this and want to pull out except for Bill, who wants to kill the people that earlier arrested him. This leads to a roof top chase with that music back for a second round and me shaking my head at the idea that this was used twice through this movie. They loose some men and take shelter in an earlier friends fight school but they are soon surrounded by Blacklegs and seeing his group in trouble is the push he needs to be able to wield the sword. one swing sees every flying and in a scene of dust and slow motion, he's killed the lot.
That night, Londinium is mental, everyone is trying to rebel and Rubio, one of Arthur's mates who got injured, shows up with his son at the dock to escape. They've been followed and Rubio gets asked the usual questions but he plays dull and so does his son who turns back up for his father after helping the other load. Trying to trick them into thinking he doesn't know the man he calls father, they test his resolve but cutting off Rubio's ear to which he screams. The boy must watch as Jude Law turns up and kills his father as Arthur is pulling him away.
Feeling like he's failed, we see a usual scene from the movies where Arthur chucks his sword away, not feeling worthy but he's pulled into a small pond by the Lady of the Lake and she shows him what will happen if he doesn't succeed. When he meets back with the troop, they head back to the hideout to find everyone else has been killed and the guy from Green Street who killed Charlie Hunnam, is there to deliver a message. If he doesn't give up, Law will kill the boy and the Mage. The Mage is released when Arthur goes to surrender but before anything can happen the Mage summons a giant snake to eat most people involved. They escape to free other prisoners to start a war against the Blacklegs. Knowing what's coming Vortigern takes his daughter to the same place he killed his wife and sacrifices her to regain is demonic form and take on Arthur. Taking him to a different relm to fight him, he ends up overpowering Arthur but as the usual feel goods go when dished out for movies, he sees his father who tells him its time to use the sword. Once impaling him, he leaves him to die as the tower crashes down around him.
A while later we are dealt a glimpse of the famous roundtable being built as he knights everyone on his friends. He cuts ties with the villainous Vikings to avoid any more fighting and makes them drop to one knee before inviting them over for some food. Arthur is then presented with his new crown and as he lifts his sword aloft, the kingdom cheers.
Ok so it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but it still wasn't great. The casting out of the major few characters felt like Guy Richie had been down the pub and asked the local drunks if they fancied being in a movie with David Beckham and they stayed drunk throughout. With some awful accents that I could have done without, the emotion of people dying felt forced and unreal. The special effects were brilliant to be fair and it was probably the saving grace but all the talk of Merlin and him not showing up was quite the let down. I'm still not sold on Jude Law either and to have him as the main villain, I felt like it could have worked better with someone else.

This film was going to be interesting. I have never seen the animation but I remember messing about on the computer game on the PlayStation when I was younger. From the trailer it looked like this movie was heavily reliant on its special effects and graphics, but I hope this wasn't the case.

We are set the seen of the future, a future where people have been receiving cybernetic upgrades and the top dogs to go to for such a procedure is Hanka Technology, which is on the verge of creating a new cyborg which uses a human brain to function. What the hell could go wrong?

A woman named Mira, played by Scarlett Johansson, is being taking into Hanka after an accident which isn't shown. Her brain is put into a cybernetic body, with more strength and agility. Once the process is complete, her designer, Ouelet talks to the Hanka CEO called Cutter, who wants Mira in section 9, which is an Anti-terrorism squad but the designer feels that its past her right now. Fast forward to a year later and its been a success. Mira is called 'The Major' as she stands on a roof listening in on a meeting between a Hanka representative and an African Ambassador. Receiving her orders from the section 9 Chief and working along side a team of Batou and Ladriya, she seems to work without emotion so far. In the meeting, several geisha-bots attack the people in the room and Major springs into action, against the Chief's command. Showing the first cinematic graphics on the skyscrapers and surrounding area was something but now The Major turns invisible and jumps off the roof before swinging into the room and shooting the robots as the creepily crawl up the walls to safety. One of the bots hacks into the Hanka man's neck and kills him before she can get to him to save him. As it pulls away it utters words that make you think that Hanka isn't all that it seems and then it's killed by Mira.

The team meet with the Chief to discuss the attack that happened and they learn that the bots were hacked from a mysterious source which was uttering the same phrase as the geisha-bots from earlier. Chief wants to talk to The Major by himself, to discuss about her not listening to orders and he tells her that she still has her ghost within her shell. Now we are going to learn what the title is about. The Major is seen to meet with her designer on a regular to sort out any damage from missions and as they converse, she always has a problem with remembering her actual past through any more than glimpses and flashes. Ouelet puts these down to glitches but there is something there between the two and she seems to care for her. The Major and Batou are driving about the city and she continues about her memories, telling him she can't remember her family dying whilst trying to get into the country, now she is hallucinating a burning hut. The two meet another Hanka representative who is a doctor and working on the geisha-bot from the start. The Major decides to deep dive inside the AI in order to find out more answers about the hacker. In a new kind of special effects for the movie, we seen some sort of code scene, as if watching The Matrix and The Major finds herself walking through a club with distorted images of people frightened. She is grabbed by some sort of entity and Batou is forced to pull her out where she then wakes to say that she knows where the hacker is.

The duo now head to a Yakuza nightclub with Ladriya and not long in, The Major is pulled into a room by two mean and is forced to dance on a pole whilst being handcuffed to it and being zapped by a cattle prod. The room is also blocking her signal to the rest of the team so she can't be saved. The Major then starts fighting with the men in the room in one of the best fight scenes from the move. Quick action, quick bullet dodging and intense kicking leads to a gun fight between the team and other men until they are free to find the hacker, running into a room that is a trap and the bomb goes off, injuring Major and blinding Badou. Badou needs cybernetic eyes and the Major's body continues to be repaired. Meanwhile Cutter meets with the Chief and is angry with the fact that Major done the deep dive to which the Chief warns Cutter not the threaten him because he answers to the Prime minster not Hanka. Now this is creating a new rift for the movie.

We set our first sights on the actual hacker and main antagonist of the movie as he finds the doctor who gave Mira the deep dive and rips her eyes out before ending her life. The team find her and The Major finds that she died holding a disc drive she contain Hanka names including Ouelet so she figures these are the next targets. Back on the street the hacker starts to control two truck workers who try to ram Ouelet's car off the road and although she survives they make a move to shoot her before the team arrive to shoot first and save her. Mira chases on man to a body of water until he turns invisible and fights him in a great passage of special effects, until Batou turns up to stop her so that they can question him. Interrogation starts but the man can't remember anything after the link with the hacker is severed. He was simply on his way to pick up his daughter and the Major holds up a picture of what he thinks is his daughter but turns out to be one of himself. They work out that the hacker probably planted fake memories into this guy. The hacker, who they learn is called Kuze, hacks back in and communicates through the guy and threatens section 9 before jumping up and making the man hang himself with a cable. A member traces the hack to a hidden location and the Major investigates, finding the hacker attached to a network with other cyborg bodies. Kuze explains that he was a test subject at Hanka and was called a freak and failure due to his terrible outcome. The Major notices a tattoo on his chest of a burning hut like the one she imaging earlier. Kuze carries on explain that Kanka took control of their lives instead of saving the needy.

Back at civilisation, Mira confronts Ouelet about what has been said, who explains that there were many failed attempts and Major was the first successful one but Mira appears angry even as Ouelet tried to defend herself. Once caught, Cutter order Ouelet to terminate Mira but instead, she fakes the process and gives ira an address for her to find answers for herself. Cutter is seen shooting the glass to try and get in to stop this and eventually after Mira escapes and Cutter kills the designer but frames Mira to the Chief instead.

Major follows the address to what turns out to be her old home which is still lived at by her mother. The mother gives a story of how her daughter run away and she believed she has been killed. She looks into the Major's eyes and sees something familiar. As she leaves the Chief gets in contact and updates her about Ouelet, both knowing the actual truth, they let Cutter listen in on the conversation as they plan their next move. Cutter sets his sights on the Section 9 team but most survive their attacks. Mira meets Kuze at a hideout, not believing that he isn't the bad guy in this situation. They learn his name was Hideo and they both were against the rise of cyborgs. As they reminisce about their old lives, Cutter sends a massive spider tank to start blowing shit up. It hits Kuze and damages him severely. Major jumps on board and using all her strength she tries to rip it apart. One of Cutter's snipers has now flown in on a helicopter and shoots Kuze. Both are lying on the floor facing each other and Badou recovers Major as the scene changes to Chief confronting Cutter and gets in touch with Major to ask her consent to execute Cutter. Shooting him three times in slow motion, he falls into a small pool to die.

The film ends with Major visiting her own grave and as it pans out we see her mother with her, maybe showing that she has told her mother who she really is now. The Major's voiceover begins a lesson that she's learned about knowing there will be more like her but the changes to her body don't define her, ending by leaping off the building to her next mission.

The film was an ok watch, with some amazing special effects and visions on the future but a story that felt very crammed in the small space of time that it was on. Between the fight scenes and fast paced action, it did keep me gripped in the film. I couldn't compare it to the original material though so others may not have enjoyed it. If this didn't go by the original storyline then they would have missed a trick.

A star studded cast of Brie Larson, Sharlto Copley, Cillian Murphy and Armie Hammer are set in Boston in 1978 at a deserted warehouse, where a simple looking arms deal turns into two gangs in full out war leading to a game of survival. Even after seeing the trailer I couldn't wait to see this movie, Copley has been a success in the movies I've seen him in and the humorous dialogue in only the trailer won me over. 

The pace is set as the first gang of Irish-Americans meet outside the warehouse to discuss how it's going to go down and one of the lads turns up looking a little worse after a beat down the night before. After climbing out of the getaway vehicle and meeting up with the rest we find out that Larson's character is the mediator of the arms deal and she I in the deal for herself. They are all met by Ord, Hammer's character who is in a smart suit and looking a bit too up tight for the deal that is about to take place but he is the rep for the dealers so I suppose he has an image to make up. Along with his dapper clothing he also has some smart arsed answers for the gang questions and this seems to rile up the older bloke.
Inside the scene is set in a scruffy warehouse full of broken walls, muddy puddles and very dim light corridors. The dealer is Copley and he is assisted by an African American called Martin and two other associates. Vernon, Copley's character, greets Larson and compliments her before telling her that she's put on a bit of weight. Their back and fore will continue to hilarious consequence. Soon we are down to action as the guns are shoved onto the table and until Chris, Cillian Murphy's guy, simply says that these are the wrong guns and not what they ordered. Vernon isn't happy with the way that this is going but its diffused again once they've decided to take the funs and the money is handed over in a brief case that will soon become a big part of he comedy. Once the transaction has finished, Vernon tries to ask Justine, Larson's character, out for dinner, to which she simply shoots him down.
The guns are wheeled in in the back of a van and Stevo, with the black eyes, notices the driver I the guy who beat him up the night before. Harry, the driver notices him and flips the fuck out. He tells everyone the real story, that Stevo tried it on with his cousin and then glassed her when she refused. Frank, the older buyer, takes Stevo aside and begins to work he body until he is slumped to the floor, then demands he apologises. Stevo begins but then turns and starts to mock the cousin instead. You can now feel the tension growing and your left wondering when this will finally kick off in all out war. Harry goes to the front seat and brings out a gun which he uses to shoot Stevo in the shoulder. Everyone scatters for cover and bullets are let fly, the only one that hits, grazes Martin, who passes out and leaves the briefcase unsecured.
In the middle of the gun fire, two unknown snipers turn up and start spraying. One gets killed and we have our first casualty, followed by Vernon shooting one of the Irish brothers, who isn't Stevo, until he slowly dies too. Stevo sees this and rushes to his brothers side, demanding vengeance whilst breaking down. Howie, the second sniper then speaks up and Ord recognises the voice. Before he can say who sent him, he's too shoot and killed but we don't find out who had the accuracy.
All Vernon is caring about right now is the money and he's asking everyone he trusts to go and grab it. He asks Larson because they wouldn't shoot at a bird and Vernon calls for everyone to stop firing so she can grab it. As she runs she is followed by one of Vernon's side guys but she's shot in the leg by Harry, who can do anything but miss with his bullets. As she's on her arse screaming, she shoots back at him for pay back. This all carries on until they can hear a phone ringing from somewhere in the warehouse. Frank, the older buyer tried to find it to call for back up and is followed by Vernon where the shooting continues once more. Gordon, the guy who followed Justine, continues to try and kill her but she gets the vital shoot in before passing out through blood loss. This film is now a hundred miles and hour and the cutting from fight to fight is brilliant and the camera work is done for all to see. Frank and Vernon have now made it upstairs and Frank has locked himself in a room before pouring flammable liquid all over the floor, pouring into the hallway where Vernon is standing. Its ignited and Vernon is set on fire but he turns an extinguisher on himself and manages to put it out before killing Frank, what a guy!
Martin has now decided he's had enough of a nap and it turns out that the snipers were sent by him so that they could have the money for themselves. He crack on with a shoot out of his own but soon dies from his earlier wounds which end up pretty much with his brain pushing out of a small hole in his skill when he fell an cracked it. Chris, Cillian Murphy, makes it upstairs to see Vernon slumped against a wall, looking like a well done steak and is trying to talk Chris down, but instead Chris decides to blow a new hole in his face. He gets to the room to call back up but Ord cuts the line whilst Harry and Stevo have now rekindled their fight. Chris's friend has now turned up and starts to fight Harry, soon loosing the upper hand and Harry beasts him to death with a metal bar. After that fight, Harry grabs the briefcase and hops into the van. Stevo continues shooting at him as he lies on the ground until he's run over, head getting crushed, he still manages to shoot Harry though his arse, which kills him and makes the van come to a crashing stop.
The fire from earlier now sets off sprinklers and it's Chris and Ord left standing. Chris takes the briefcase out of the van and they both calls a truce before the cops show up. As they take a seat a bullet whistles through Ord's head and another through Chris's chest. Justine is left standing in a shock turn of events. Chris mutters about regret of not being able to take her out for dinner to which she agrees as se picks up the money and uses a rifle as a crutch to escape from the warehouse, leaving Chris to die. The police have now turned up and the screen fades to black leaving us wonder if she escaped or got arrested.
This was as gritty as it could get with brilliant humour delivered through one liners and between different characters. The cut scenes to be able to show all of the action and twists were great for a film that I was hoping weren't showing all its best bits within the trailer. All of the cast worked well and I left knowing I'd seen a good film that will probably fly under a lot of peoples radars because of what else was in the cinema at the time.
